About Us
"But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience"
Adam Cesar

My name is Adam Cesar. I am originally from Buffalo, New York, but I now reside in Port Elizabeth, South Africa with my wife Hannah and our five children (Adelaide, Hudson, Benjamin, Judah, and Lily). I have been called to preach the gospel and truth of God without compromise to anyone and anywhere the Lord asks me to. I have also been called to feed HIS sheep. By his grace, I desire and seek to be faithful to HIM in these holy and wonderful callings.
I asked Jesus to save me when I was 8 years old. However, there was much I didn’t understand about God and sin and righteousness and Christ. And so at the age of 18 years old is when I really began to repent towards God. I began crying out to him for help to guide me into his will and to save me from my sin, and I began reading the Bible every day of my life. Somewhere over the next couple of years the Lord birthed a new man inside of me and my eyes were opened to the Lord Jesus Christ, his death, and his resurrection. I began evangelizing and preaching and teaching the word of God immediately. God was faithful to open many doors for me to minister his word (in churches, homes, nursing homes, rescue missions, prisons, on the streets, in foreign lands, etc). I was privileged to help pastor/assistant pastor 3 churches in the US during my late 20’s and early 30’s.
In 2018, my wife Hannah and I were blessed to be sent to South Africa as missionaries of the gospel of Christ. From 2018 until early 2023, we lived and served the LORD in the greater Johannesburg area. The Lord opened many wonderful doors for the gospel of Christ to be proclaimed through street evangelism, township ministry, tracts, booklets, schools, homeless shelters, home Bible studies, local churches, etc. The LORD allowed us to form a local church in 2021 in Alberton that operated for 20 months. The relationships the LORD formed and the growth we saw in one another was truly wonderful. We give thanks for this special time. At the end of March 2023, the LORD relocated us down to Port Elizabeth where we are currently residing and ministering by his grace.
My heart is Jesus Christ, his word, his people, and the souls of men. My love is his glory and to see his name and praise revealed throughout the whole earth. My desire is to be a true and sincere disciple of Jesus Christ that will be found holy and without blame before him in love on that day when I meet HIM. One of my other great desires is to be a true worshipper of the Father that will be fully pleasing and acceptable to HIM. And lastly, my desire is to be a help to as many people as possible to become the same.
May the Lord Jesus enlighten your darkness and give you grace and glory to follow him in righteousness and true holiness unto the fulfillment of the will of the Father in your life and the lives of many others so that HE might be glorified and well pleased. Blessings and peace in the name of our Father in heaven, and in the name of his Son, our Lord Jesus Christ!
Raymond Nagel

My name is Raymond Nagel, aka "Brother Ray". I'm from the Buffalo, NY, area, where I work from home full-time as a software engineer.
I was raised in a Christian home and grew up reading the Bible. I believed in God because my parents taught me that he was real, and I believed what they told me about Jesus: that he was the Son of God who loved me, died for my sins on a cross, and was risen from the dead. I thank God for this foundation of his word that planted an early seed of faith in my heart.
Most of what I learned from my dad and my pastors about God was in the form of theological facts. The bullet points on our church doctrinal statement were paramount: "We believe this, and here are the verses why"; and that was Christianity to me. I learned to locate and memorize certain verses that could be used to argue the doctrinal positions of my church; and when I would talk to other people about God, it was to convince them that we were right, and they should learn our theology. This didn't work out for me, and I started getting frustrated with "Christianity". But the truth is, I didn't have it yet. I didn't know Jesus Christ. I knew of his gospel, and I believed that the Bible was true; but I didn't know HIM, and I didn't have his Spirit.
In my 20s, by the grace of God, I started to meet other believers (including Adam Cesar, who soon became my best friend) who encouraged me to seek the Lord in earnest and to read the whole Bible, which I'd never done before. I began to see that the scriptures, the gospel, and truth itself, are all about JESUS - not me, not my theology, not my church or its positions. God began to strip away my pride in what I thought I knew about the Bible, and I started crying out for him to show me the real truth - a prayer that he was faithful and gracious to answer. He showed me, above all, that Jesus Christ his Son is more than a sacrifice to save me - he is the Lord that bought me! God revealed to me that much of what I was taught in my youth was error, and opened my eyes to what the gospel is really about: transforming us into the image and righteousness of Jesus Christ, so that we can truly be God's children, and be partakers of his Spirit and his life.
My passion in life and ministry is sharing with others the things which the Lord has given to me: to know Jesus Christ as Lord; to know his own will for his church; to know the hope of his calling; and to be prepared unto his return, so that the Lord would indeed find faith on the earth at his coming.
TheCallingOfGod.org

In January 2018, Adam and Hannah moved permanently to South Africa, following the Lord's calling to full-time ministry toward the African peoples. God blessed Adam's faithfulness with fruitfulness; and through his ministry, the word of God grew and multiplied. Gospel tracts started going out by the hundreds and thousands; but Adam also saw the importance of having a resource available that could be used to water the seed that was planted.
Around the same time, the Lord put on Ray's heart to reach out to believers, churches, and pastors concerning the imminence of Christ's return, and the importance of the unity of the Spirit in his body in these last days. He was writing articles to share with believers on Facebook; but they were soon lost from the feed, which was meant to be temporary, and they were difficult to share with others who weren't on Facebook.
In August 2018, Ray started a new job doing web development - something he had very little experience with - and he wanted to start a personal website from scratch as an opportunity to practice the skills needed for the job. He discussed it with Adam, and they (we) both had the same idea: to start a website that could be used to share with others the understanding and vision that God gives us as we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, and to be a follow-up resource to help direct those who receive our gospel tracts.
Adam had started a YouTube video series, The Calling, which was focused on helping believers to understand, in a real, practical way, what the life of a Christian is all about: a call to real faith, true holiness, and following Jesus Christ as his sheep and disciples. This idea represents, not only the purpose of the video series, but the purpose of our ministry and lives. We were created in Jesus Christ to know and please the Father, to walk in his truth, and to be his ambassadors in this world, preaching the gospel of Christ and his calling to others. By God's grace and providence, both the callingofgod.org and thecallingofgod.org domains were available; so we acquired them at once and began hosting The Calling of God on nearlyfreespeech.net.
We pray for you, our visitors, and for the fruits of this ministry, and covet your prayers for them as well. We believe that this website is the work of God's Spirit through us, and we pray that he would use it and us for his pleasure and glory: to declare the truth, to preach righteousness, and to make the Lord Jesus Christ known among all peoples and nations.
