Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness
Neither shall evil dwell with thee
"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee." - Psalm 5:4
The prophet David prophesied this truth about our God, and may we know it and consider it for our good. May we know and understand what the LORD taketh pleasure in and what delighteth his heart... and may we also abhor and detest that which is loathsome to him and that which he shall cast out of his sight. Let us not be found liars, thinking that we know and love God, while taking pleasure in those things that God sees as worthy of damnation (like those in Romans 1:21-32). In Titus Paul speaks of men who profess that they know God but in works deny him and that they are "abominable". Let us know and understand that God does not have pleasure (no pleasure at all) in wickedness. Any form of thinking, design, intent of the heart, word, deed, habit, lifestyle, etc which is against the word and will of our God... any form of ANY of these things, is a form of wickedness in the eyes of our God.... and HE takes and has NO pleasure in such things. May God deliver us from loving those things and enjoying those things that God hates. For truly by the fear of the LORD men DEPART from evil. And let us give thanks for this holy fear which hates the things that God hates; for truly, our God does not dwell with evil, yea rather, as David testified, evil shall not dwell with HIM. So if we are comfortable to dwell with evil (in our nations, communities, churches, homes, families, marriages, hearts...) then we are not dwelling with GOD (the true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ). But oh, how the true God must become our habitation! He must become our refuge and strong tower! He must become our dwelling place for evermore! For only in HIM doth the fatherless find mercy; and only in HIM can the weak find strength; and only in HIM, can the outcasts be gathered into fellowship; and only in HIM, can the weary find rest; for only in HIM, can man which perisheth find everlasting life.
So let us learn from these truths brought forth by our beloved brother David, so that we might flee to Christ to find refuge in HIM until the day of HIS appearing! But truly, the only way we shall escape the evil of this world and the evil of our own hearts, is to choose the fear of the LORD which leads us to the cross of our Lord Jesus whereby we can be crucified to the world, and the world, can be crucified unto us.
"Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God." (3 John 1:11)
"For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee." (Psalm 5:4)
May the Grace of the Lord Jesus, the love of the Father, and the communion of the Holy Ghost be with you all. Amen.
