The Good Fight of Faith
An Online, Bible-based Christian Adventure Game
In the Resources section of this site, you can now find a link to an online game, The Good Fight of Faith. I believe the Lord gave me the vision for this game, and led me to develop it for his glory and the real, spiritual benefit of others.
It has been a long journey. As a programmer familiar with both playing video games and making them, I had long thought about making a Christian video game, but didn’t see a way to make it happen. Christianity had little to do with the themes of video games on the market, and mixing the two seemed impractical. I thought it was impossible.
I first had the vision for The Good Fight of Faith in 2013, after seeing people in church play a Bible reference-guessing game. I thought it would be cool to turn that idea into a computer game and give the player a score based on how close his guess was. But that alone wouldn’t be engaging enough for most people, especially kids.
Taking inspiration from Jesus’ encounter with the devil in Matthew 4:1-11, it then occurred to me to make that mini-game into a scripture-battle system to defeat devil bad guys; and to make encounters like these a main part of a Christian adventure game. Honestly, it started out as almost a joke; I made my best friend the main character because I thought it would be funny. But as the game progressed, it became clear to me that it could be much more than just a test of scriptural knowledge: it could be used to sow the word of God into hearts and minds.
Development slowed after a couple years for various reasons: lack of time, lack of necessary resources, and higher priorities. Eventually, I gave up and abandoned the project, thinking it was never going to get done. I also wanted to focus more on real, direct ministry with actual humans, rather than making a video game about it. At this time, I turned my attention to hosting a website where Adam and I could share some of the things that God had laid on our hearts, and we started TheCallingOfGod.org in August 2021. The Lord blessed this ministry greatly: as of today, we've had over 11,000 visitors from 98 countries around the world, and we pray that he would continue to multiply our seed sown for his name's sake.
Then In 2024, while visiting some good friends in South Africa, I was encouraged by a brother in Christ, Jonathan Fundudis, to pick up the game again and finish it. I initially tried to shrug off the idea, but I couldn’t. After nearly 8 years, I went home and played the half-finished game... and my heart was stirred.
The Lord began giving me a fresh vision to remake the game from scratch as an online game that would be free for everyone to play. He gave me insight about which features to add or modify to make the game more helpful and educational, especially for children. He also used those 8 years I had taken off to correct some doctrinal errors in me, and give me a more solid understanding of what his gospel is truly about. Furthermore, he completely removed the obstacles that had been in my way, particularly time and resources. I began to understand: he didn’t want me to abandon the game forever; he just wanted me to wait for his timing.
The Good Fight of Faith is a product of my love for Christ and his grace at work in my own life. I just want to know him more fully, and make him known to others. I’m praying that through this labor of love, and by God’s grace, many will come to have a greater knowledge of the scripture of truth, a fuller understanding of the gospel of Christ, and a better idea of what it means to "fight the good fight of faith" and live the victorious life of a Christian.
